Privacy Policy

Effective date: March 24, 2026

Teaneck Minyanim ("we", "us", or "our") operates the Teaneck Minyanim website at teaneckminyanim.com and the Teaneck Minyanim mobile application (collectively, the "Service"). This page explains what information we collect, how we use it, and your choices.

1. Information We Collect

Location data. When you use the mobile app, we request access to your device's location solely to sort nearby synagogues by distance and to center the map on your position. Location data is used on-device and is not transmitted to or stored on our servers.

Usage data. The website uses Google Tag Manager and associated analytics tools to collect standard web traffic information such as pages visited, time spent on pages, browser type, and referring URLs. The mobile app uses PostHog analytics only after you make an explicit in-app consent choice. On iOS, analytics tracking is enabled only after both in-app acceptance and App Tracking Transparency (ATT) authorization. Mobile analytics events are limited to product interaction telemetry such as app opens, screen views, and feature taps, and are configured to avoid raw personal data (for example, no raw email, phone, name, or precise coordinates).

Notification tokens. If you enable prayer-time reminders in the mobile app, a push notification token is generated by Expo's notification service and stored on your device. We use this token only to deliver reminders you have explicitly scheduled; it is not shared with third parties.

No account registration. The app does not require you to create an account or provide any personal information such as your name, email address, or phone number.

2. How We Use Information
  • To display minyan schedules and Jewish prayer times relevant to your location
  • To sort synagogue listings by distance from you
  • To deliver prayer-time reminder notifications you have scheduled
  • To understand aggregate usage patterns and improve the Service
3. Information Sharing

We do not sell, trade, or rent your personal information to third parties. We may share anonymous or pseudonymous usage telemetry with analytics providers used by the Service (Google Analytics for web and PostHog for mobile when consent requirements are met). No account profile data is sold or brokered.

4. Third-Party Services

The Service integrates with the following third-party services, each governed by its own privacy policy:

  • Google Tag Manager / Google Analytics — website analytics
  • PostHog — mobile product analytics and session replay (consent-gated) (posthog.com/privacy)
  • Expo / EAS — mobile app build and push notification delivery (expo.dev/privacy)
  • Mapbox — map tiles and geocoding (mapbox.com/legal/privacy)
5. Data Retention

We do not store personal data on our servers beyond what is necessary to operate the Service. Cached schedule data stored on your device by the app is managed by your device's operating system and can be cleared by deleting the app.

6. Children's Privacy

The Service is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will delete it promptly.

7. Your Choices
  • Location: You can deny or revoke location permission at any time in your device settings. The app will still function; shuls will not be sorted by distance.
  • Notifications: You can disable notifications in your device settings or within the app at any time.
  • Analytics (mobile): On first launch, you can accept or decline mobile analytics in the in-app disclosure. If you decline, app functionality remains available and analytics stays disabled. On iOS, you can additionally manage ATT in system settings.
  • Analytics (website): You can opt out of Google Analytics by installing the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on.
8. Security

We take reasonable technical measures to protect information transmitted to and from our Service. All API communication uses HTTPS. However, no method of transmission over the Internet is 100% secure.

9. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Changes will be posted at this URL with an updated effective date. Continued use of the Service after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.

10. Contact Us

If you have questions about this Privacy Policy, please contact us at info@teaneckminyanim.com.
